World Chess Champion, Viswanathan Anand, was Once approached by France to play from their side and was offered 5 lac Dollars for the same. Humble Anand ignored that offer and played for India as usual. Indian Authorities paid him 5 lac Rupees for the same tournament.

This incident was narrated by French Authorities to One of Anand's close friend, who cited it in a Times Now debate on 25th August 2010.

This is An Indian who picked 5 lacs over 2.5 crores since He took Pride in representing India and was humble enough to never utter a word about it.

He is First Player in Chess History to have Won the World Championship in three different formats: Knockout, Tournament, and Match.

In 2007, he was awarded India's second highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, making him the first sportsperson to receive the award in Indian history.
